Blue square

After fifteen years of good and loyal service, your pool is tired? Nothing is lost. For each problem encountered, there is a solution.

10 years, 15 years or more ... All pools are not equal to the renovation. It all depends of course on the quality of the model purchased, but also on the way you have maintained or protected it. Nevertheless, some equipment such as coatings wear out over time and over uses.

1. Masonry concrete pool

Even with a liner of high quality, the plastic will gradually lose flexibility, eventually stiffen and become fragile, especially in the corners. This deterioration will occur even faster than the liner was stretched during its implementation to eliminate wrinkles. In case of significant degradation, it is better to install a new one (4,000 to 5,000 euros for a pool of 5 x 10 m), or even replace it with reinforced PVC. In fact, the watertightness of certain pools can be ensured by a reinforced PVC coating with a thickness of 150/100 including a polyester frame. More expensive, these coatings (8000 to 9000 euros) are also very resistant and will last more than 20 years.

2. Reinforced concrete pool

The reinforced concrete ponds are equipped with tiling or marble aggregate. With these high-end pools, no need to change the coating. On the other hand, on the tiling, the calcareous deposits must be cleaned every 5 to 10 years by means of a specific product. Take the opportunity to redo the worn joints and, of course, replace the missing tiles. After 10 to 15 years, marble-coated coatings must also be cleaned with suitable products. Punctured, they will regain their original beauty and last easily 25 years more. Finally, tiles or marble, it is now possible to change the color of the coating. To offer a new look to your pool.

3. Basin in shell

With the basins in shell (fiberglass and resin), there is sometimes a phenomenon of osmosis causing the formation of blisters between the resin and the coating called gelcoat. Then sand the pool to remove the blisters before applying a new coat of resin and redo the gelcoat finish. If the lesions are too important, experts suggest to redo "a shell in the shell" from a mixture of fiberglass and resin. If only the gelcoat has suffered because of limestone, iron a layer of hydrochloric acid while protecting your hands and face. If it has lost its color and smoothness, sanding, then apply a finishing gelcoat.

Detail of the renovations put in place:

1. Repairing the beaches. 2. Replacement of the filter mouth by an overflow system on all four sides. 3. Changing liner and colors. 4. Integration of a staircase over the entire width of the pool. 5. Creation of steps with integrated lighting for access to the pool.

Most major brands (Carré bleu, Diffazur, Magiline ...) offer renovation solutions.

We replace and improve

Depending on the condition of the filtration pump, you will have to revise it (about 300 euros) or change it (between 500 and 700 euros). The filter load of sand filtration is replaced every 3 to 5 years. For diatomaceous filtration, sieves that guarantee good filtration must be changed by a professional every 5 or 6 years. Also check the operation of salt electrolysis systems and renew damaged cells or pH probes. Finally, even if it is time to renovate, it may be time to install a new staircase, add a heat pump or a submerged roller shutter ... For another 10 years under the sign of comfort !
