Visit an apartment with airy circulation, where the contemporary spirit blossoms freely ...
This is happening in Vienna, in a beautiful building from 1840 located in the heart of the Hofburg. An airy apartment where the contemporary spirit blossoms freely. A successful alchemy that is due to an interior designer, Claus Radler. The owner wanted to optimize the space and make the view, dazzling, everywhere. On three levels, terraces are created and each offers spectacular views. The stage is set.
Far from lofts as refined as impractical
Another fundamental element is entering this brilliantly executed picture: functionalism. We are far from lofts as refined as impractical. Here, we do not seek storage under a magnifying glass! The entrance hosts a large cloakroom space, the most ingenious and discreet, because the storage is hidden from floor to ceiling. A good example of the mastery of the architect in the art of dissimulation and tailor-made. An art that is found in the kitchen, which extends the entrance. Luxurious and terribly malignant, it is worthy of the "laboratory" professional of a great chef ... The layout of a central island design and elegant, the total absence of visible closets allow it to blend perfectly with the room to eat, beating heart of the apartment.
The set consisting of this first level, which also hosts a small office room, a bedroom, a walk-in closet and a bathroom, is standardized by the waxed concrete floor, the chic minimalism and the absence of doors, fluidity obliges. And by the sight, which invites itself everywhere and makes the light penetrate floods. Large double windows have even been installed on steep roofs to enhance clarity. It's the ubiquitous light and the intense blue of the walls that dispel the often icy impression inherent in ultra-contemporary atmospheres.
Cap on home automation
The extreme sophistication of home automation, characteristic of most designer apartments, is on its side, worthy of a scientific preparatory class course: room temperature, intensity of light, here the whole technique depends on a developed system and adjustable remote. In order not to disturb the purity and the circulation of the space, the access to the living room of the first floor is done by a staircase of metal, simple and without railing, fixed against a wall of the hall. There appears one room, probably the most theatrical of the apartment, with its monumental fireplace painted red painted in the center of the room. With, again, the breathtaking panoramic view over the roofs of Vienna. Heat, sight, comfort, refined aesthetics, the real living room of the apartment is a success.
As everywhere, the furniture is simple but impeccable, with the emphasis on armchairs and lighting by contemporary designers. And above? From the living room, we go to the second terrace and from there to the third, a small wonder perched at the top of the building. The rotunda of the Imperial Palace and the bell tower of the church of Michaelerplatz play their part, as the main actors of this beautiful Viennese scene.
