The advantages of the washing toilet.
Unusual French, toilets wash however provide a real plus in terms of comfort and hygiene. But their price remains a brake, as the imperatives related to their installation. If luxury hotels adopt the washing toilet, the general public is still wondering. Maison Français Magazine takes stock: what are the benefits of the toilet?
The French are not at a paradox. If 75% of them do not feel "clean" out of toilets, only 57% know the existence of the toilet. A figure that was only 30% in 2009 ... This is what reveals a study conducted in 2014 by Geberit AquaClean.
"We have gained ground in five years, but there is still some way to go," says Johann Suzanne, Swiss market leader of the Swiss brand. Especially if we want to catch up with Asia, where washing toilets already equip two thirds of Japanese and South Korean households.
The lack of knowledge of the product by the French only partly explains the fact that these toilets are not yet commonplace in our country. Added to this factor is the price (higher than for conventional toilets), the reduced number of suppliers and the problems that their installation can pose "because this requires an additional water supply and an electrical outlet", specifies Jérôme Billard, project manager for Toto France.
The fact remains that luxury hotels are very interested in washing toilets: in Paris, Geberit AquaClean provided them for the 14 new rooms and suites at the Plaza Athénée, as well as in all rooms at Le Crillon, still undergoing renovation. "The hotel industry is groundbreaking," observes Johann Suzanne, "it's often here that customers discover innovations before duplicating them at home." Still, if the hotel has relied on washing toilets, it is not to distinguish with a new "gadget", it is mainly because this technology multiplies the benefits.
The washing toilet offers a better hygiene
"Using a toilet is both clean and clean," says Johann Suzanne. Jérôme Billard adds: "We have the same sensation as leaving a shower." Other subtlety: "Our toilets are equipped with a charcoal filter that captures the odors and thus maintain a healthy air.It is more effective than controlled mechanical ventilation (VMC)," says one in Geberit AquaClean. Same scenario at Toto, which incorporates an air purifier to the toilet.

In white or chrome version, respectively 4 050 euros and 4 150 euros, Geberit AquaClean.
More comfort with the toilets
The water that escapes from the toilets is at body temperature. And if that does not work, simply adjust the thermostat. Other sources of comfort: the heated seat and the choice of jet intensity.
Water and paper savings thanks to the washing toilet
To the question "Do we save money with this type of toilet?", The answer is yes. Firstly because the paper is no longer useful, drying being ensured by a blast of hot air. Then: "As there is more paper to evacuate, these toilets require a flush of 4.5 liters instead of 6 liters in a traditional toilet," says one at Toto. The Japanese manufacturer even adds "low power consumption" because its models are equipped with a mode "energy saving".

The ideas received about the toilet
A priori are many face washing toilets. Some consider it "too complicated", others wonder about the right button to operate ... while everything is automatic. "The functions are triggered from a remote control," says Jérôme Billard. As for a television, one chooses its program: washing feminine or masculine, adjustment of the temperature, the intensity of the water, the drying ...
Even more astute: "We can memorize the profiles of each member of the family," details Johann Suzanne. Still not convinced? In this case, you have to go test them in the Geberit AquaClean showroom (66, rue de Babylone, 75007 Paris). Designed by the architects Didier and Fabrice Knoll, it is equipped with two private test rooms.

The washing toilets are easy to clean
As for cleaning, nothing binding. At Toto, for example, the nozzle is self-cleaning after each use. As for the bowl, it has no edge to facilitate the evacuation of dirt by a powerful flush. In addition, it is coated with a varnish that smooths the asperities of the ceramic and prevents dirt from getting stuck to it. A serviceability confirmed by Geberit AquaClean, which states that the life of washing toilets is at least 12 years.
