His advantages ?

Ultra-easy to clean, the flexible PVS or vinyl floor is cleaned with a sponge. It is found in rolls (easy installation) but also in slats and slabs: the slabs / slabs are cut very simply with the cutter and clipped, for a pose even simpler, fast and without dust. Tiles, wood, terracotta, concrete ... It imitates very well all the materials with a quality now at the rendezvous and comes in many reasons.

Its disadvantages?

"We find mostly rolls of 4 meters wide, explains Dominique Monfort, for Leroy Merlin, which will multiply the falls".

In which room ?

If before, slabs and blades were rather reserved for small areas, this is not the case now: the vinyl floor is suitable for all parts of the house, especially the water. There is a classification of resistance to wear (which also determines the price): one chooses a floor 31 for a moderate attendance (room, stay, office), and a floor 32 or 33, for a higher use (hall of residence). entrance, shower room). "It is ideal on an old tiled floor because it does not require soil preparation, for Dominique Montfort, but be careful not to overlay it on an old vinyl floor".

For which budget?

In rolls, prices start at less than 10 euros per m2. We can distinguish vinyl floors sold in rolls made of foam (around 14 euros per m2) and felt-based floors that give the impression of walking on a carpet and which display good phonic performance. Slabs and slats (around 25 euros per m2) also make less noise than laminate coatings even if there are underlayers that increase the sound comfort (4 euros per m2).

2. Between 15 and 40 euros per m2, resistant but noisy laminate flooring

Laminate flooring Walnut effect, Ep.14 mm Premium L. € 29.95 per m2. Leroy Merlin.

Leroy Merlin

What is it ?

A floor covering consisting of several layers (high density panels) on which a decoration (wood, PVC, tiles, concrete, etc.) is installed. A overlay protects the decor (the thicker it is, the more resistant the coating).

His advantages ?

It is a very resistant soil in time. With a wooden decor, it is often taken for parquet - as its imitation can be successful. Not to mention, its floating installation extremely easy to achieve, its lack of maintenance (it is useless to wax, oil or varnish the ground), its more affordable than a parquet and its aesthetic with wood effects bluffing (texture in relief that gives it a very realistic appearance and touch with knots, ribs, light saws, natural colors, grayed or bleached).

Its disadvantages?

Mainly, its low acoustic comfort: to reduce footfall, the insulating underlay is needed (1 to 9 euros). You can also opt for a laminate with an integrated underlayment.

In which room ?

The trick of Dominique Montfort? "Equipped with some underlayments 'heat', it is perfect above the garages or in a child's room because the underlay allows to gain 3 or 4 degrees". Otherwise, it adapts to all rooms, as with the flexible PVC floor a wear classification: from 31 for a moderate attendance (room, living room), to 32 for higher use (living room, office, lobby). entrance) and 33 for heavy traffic (water rooms, kitchens ...).

For which budget?

Between 15 and 40 euros of m2 with price differences depending on the decor (the more the decor is successful, the more expensive), its resistance (class 33, especially in water rooms or kitchens with products resistant to high humidity, cleaning products ...), its thickness or ease of installation.

3. From 35 to 70 euros per m2, warm and natural looking cork flooring

Cork flooring laminated oak Lisboa trend vitrified XXL. 39.95 euros / m2. Leroy Merlin.

Leroy Merlin

What is it ?

Cork is a soft soil extracted from the bark of cork oaks. Previously applied as an underlayment to another floor covering, it is now used as a complete floor covering.

His advantages ?

The natural appearance of this flooring appeal as well as the feeling of warmth that is experienced when walking on it. A recent innovation in Leroy Merlin's ranges: "we have recently been proposing cork floors from Portugal, these are soils that have a history, such as stone floors for example". Cork also provides excellent sound comfort and slabs or cork blades are quite easy to install (like laminates).

Its disadvantages?

Its price a bit high.

In which room ?

Thanks to its sound comfort, it will be ideal for large rooms, especially if they are poorly furnished. In Portugal, it is mainly found in the kitchen / living room. Because of its 'hot' side, it is advisable in a room or a stay.

For which budget?

Between 35 and 70 euros of m2.

4. Between 30 and 80 euros per m2, linoleum, the ecological soil par excellence

With its latest generation click, Marmoleum® click linoleum is very easy to install. In addition to this fast implementation and its aesthetic qualities, its phthalate-free and glue-free manufacturing guarantees optimal indoor air quality and a healthy environment. Finally, its surface protection Topshield2 facilitates its maintenance. Price on estimate. Linoleum Forbo Flooring Systems.

Forbo Flooring Systems

What is it ?

Contrary to popular belief, linoleum has nothing to do with soft PVC or vinyl floors. It is a natural coating composed of linseed oil, wood flour, mineral fillers, natural resins and pigments, all on a burlap support.

His advantages ?

Anti-bacterial and antistatic, the real lino arises all the more easily as it now exists in clipping blades. Easy to clean, simply mop or vacuum to clean it. Resistant, it can last more than 20 years and finally, it offers a good acoustic comfort.

Its disadvantages?

With the exception of Forbo, inventor of Linoleum in France, few brands offer it. It must be said that for a long time it was mistakenly confused with soft PVC floors, hence a degraded image (soft floors being in the past of much less good quality than today).

In which room ?

Its resistance makes it suitable for areas of intense passage such as living rooms, corridors ...

For which budget?

30 to 40 euros per m2 at least for a quality product.

5. From 10 to more than 200 euros per m2, carpet, the most cozy floor

Velvet carpet Premium multicolored flower cement tiles 4 m. 30.95 euros / m2. Leroy Merlin.

Leroy Merlin

What is it ?

A textile coating that can be based on natural fibers (seagrass, sisal) or synthetic fibers (polyamide or polypro).

His advantages ?

There is something for every budget and every style: its look has changed a lot in recent years with many different models and different levels of resistance. Perfect acoustic level, it is also very nice to walk barefoot. Finally, its installation is no more complex than that of a PVC floor roll.

Its disadvantages?

Even though the carpet is again popular, it has suffered a lot from its bad reputation: it was not recommended especially to people allergic to dust. Yet studies have shown that it is not: unlike other floor coverings, it keeps dust between its fibers, dust that does not interfere with sensitive people. A vacuum stroke is enough to clean it. "Most customers are looking for easy-care (anti-stain) carpets," explains Dominique Montfort, "yet we still sell a lot of long-pile carpets."

In which room ?

Panaget

What is it ?

A solid parquet is composed of a single species of wood. His advantages ?

Timeless and warm, the solid parquet has a very long resistance especially because a single layer of solid wood can be renovated several times for a longer life. We find a wide range of species (Pine, Oak, Beech, Jatoba) and raw, varnished or oiled finishes. The laminate flooring has the same advantages as the solid parquet flooring with easier installation, thanks to the clipped system and the adaptation of certain ranges to heated floors.

Its disadvantages?

Laying solid parquet (to glue or nail), can be a little complex. "Oil finishes are recommended for seaside homes because they do not scratch with sand," said Dominique Montfort. The vitrified finishes are easier to maintain but they can get scratched. "Finally, its price can also be a drag on the purchase.

In which room ?

Floor and wall tiles walnut wood effect Elbe l.15 x W.61 cm. 17.95 euros / m2. Leroy Merlin.

Leroy Merlin

What is it ?

Tiling is a crushed and ground material, subjected to high pressure. Porcelain stoneware, faience, terracotta, tomettes ... It takes very different forms. The most qualitative is the porcelain stoneware: made of the same material in its paste and on the surface, the possible chips will be very little visible there. There are also stretched sandstones (with a different paste in the biscuit and the surface), squeezed sandstone more porous (red or white pasta compressed and enameled on the surface) and finally earthenware: beware, these fragile are suitable only on the walls.

Its disadvantages?

Highly appreciated, porcelain stoneware is not necessarily the easiest to clean. Laying the tiles often requires the passage of a professional. Finally, its weight can also quickly become a constraint: for 30 m2, you can end up with 700 kilos of tiling to carry.

In which room ?

It is everywhere. Porcelain stoneware is preferred in areas of passage (entrance, living room, kitchen) and polished surfaces in a kitchen or bathroom should be avoided because of splashing water that can make them slippery.

For which budget?

Count from 15 to 65 euros per m2, the most upscale models can reach 100 euros per m2.
