Around 1970, the elements of the "Kartell in tavola" collection were the bearers of the all-plastic revolution.

The Italian firm Kartell specializes in objects and plastic furniture returns to the tableware. His line "Kartell in tavola" is now invited to all your meals. Come discover the flagship products of the made in Italy brand.

In the 1970s, Italian designers Anna Castelli Ferrieri and Franco Raggi had initiated a mini revolution with the concept "Kartell in tavol". Produced from 1976 to 1979, these Kartell-designed objects, adapted both to the preparation of the meal and to its consumption, abolished the distinction between cooking and eating at a time when meals were still being served at the galley. Characterized by their practical spirit, the saving of space and time, the pieces of crockery and the colored containers, transparent or opaque, made it possible to keep, for a few hours, the food warm or to place them in the cold. The refrigerator storage boxes were on the table. The service cutlery had a short handle to facilitate seasoning and clung to the edge of the bowl. The vertical grooves, drawn on the carafes and the glasses, facilitated their handling. Innovative technique, the injection molding of thermoplastics, polycarbonate, melamine, offered a greater creativity.

Kartell: a line of art products from the mixed table

The six new Kartell collections blend cultures and bring together contrasting styles. Three chefs and three designers have created objects that meet the needs of today. To each his recipe for creating a contemporary and practical table. Patricia Urquiola, Spanish designer, has designed a collection of dishes, the "Jellies", playful and unbreakable, for elegant and personalized tables, inside and out: "To the touch and to the sight, they are reminiscent of the size of the crystal and its generous decorations, they live in the open air playing with the refractions of the light. They are not afraid of the rain and do not fear falling ... They live inside, all equal or mixing their colors ".

Davide Oldani, Italian starred chef, brings his professional trick: "All my ideas come from there: a constant and attentive look at what's around me, I look at the hands of those who carry the plates from the kitchen to the table, and I notice that they do their best to stay away from the inside of the plate. [...] Whatever precaution we take, there is always a point where the thumb is in contact with the plate ... This is how I created a plate with a raised fingerprint, a light but clear trace for those who must grasp the plate, and thanks to an elegant relief on the edge, it allows to bring the plate to table without leaving too much footprints, a thumb sign that wandered over the edge looking for support ". "Namaste", the collection of Jean Marie-Massaud, French designer, is inspired by the shapes of flat stones. In addition, a bread basket and melamine trays, created by two other Italian chefs, and a line of three presentation bells signed Philippe Starck. These personalities have concocted solutions to compose a table easy to live and prove, finally, that plastic materials are not reserved for outdoor and summer picnics.
